Carey Baptist College is seeking a dynamic, enthusiastic, and experienced educational assistant, with certificate-level qualifications, to join our Secondary team Full time commencing January 2025. Having experience with literacy skills and small group intervention is highly favourable.

About the role
Under teacher direction, the Education Assistant is required to assist with student supervision, intervention programs, behaviour management plans, general student well-being, and documenting student learning in a secondary setting. This involves:
- Assist in the documentation for the learning of individuals and/or groups both in a written and visual form
- Facilitate, with support, the implementation of Individual Education Programmes and/or Behaviour Management Plans
- Actively encourage and assist the students to take as much responsibility as possible for their own organisation and learning
- The Education Assistant will also work independently with a small group of students to develop their functional literacy skills.
- Hold a Cert III or IV in Education Support or equivalent.
- Record note of informing the teacher of observations.
- Aid teachers in supervising students during incursions and excursions, as required.
- Supporting teacher with the general care and well being of students, including those with learning difficulties, special needs or medical conditions.
- Support with the preparation learning resources and maintenance of the learning environment by maintaining equipment, materials and resources
- Assisting to keep the classroom tidy and organised.

- A strong understanding of key educational issues
- The ability to display empathy with, and understanding of young people, especially those at academic risk.
- A commitment to pastoral care coupled with knowledge of social issues that affect young people
- A willingness to uphold the ethos and values of Christian faith and uphold the ethos, values, policies, and practices of the College
- Experience working with small groups using evidence-based literacy programs like Sounds-Write or MaqLit
